Baraka was invited by the Art of Living to represent America by performing at The Silver Jubilee 2006, an International Conference on Interfaith and Human Values, in Bangalore, India. This event created the largest stage ever, and hosted over 2.5 million people from an estimated 140 countries. Religious leaders, politicians, monarchs, musicians, dignitaries, sports athletes, celebrities, and volunteers from around the world came in support of this grand event and vision. Baraka was just one of many bands from around the globe invited to perform in front of thousands upon thousands of people. This was to be the largest interfaith gathering in history.

In February 2006, with the mission to perform in India, and with the support of family, friends, and fans, Baraka embarks on the journey and promises upon return to record an album and release a documentary video of their Voyage.

Global Kirtan and Prayers for Yamuna River

During the Vrindavan Kumbha Mela, on the full moon day of Saturday, January 30, 2010, thousands of sadhus, babas, bhaktas and spiritual seekers will gather at Keshi Ghat on the Yamuna. There, they will engage in puja and ceremonial bathing to honor this holy site and join their voices in kirtan to pray for the future of these sacred life-giving waters and the historic sites of Braj bhakti. Kirtan and Prayer will be taking place around the world on this day to pray for the protection and preservation of Yamuna River against the threat of desecration and disrespect in the form of pollution and building an unwanted bridge over the sacred river. The Global Kirtan movement is also submitting its appeal for Vrndavan to be recognized as a World Heritage Site, just like Mecca, Jerusalem, Vatican, ect… so that it will be continually protected, thus ensuring its preservation, as well, as bringing in much needed funds to take care of other problems such as sewage, trash, and water in Vrndavan area.
More Info about World Prayer and Kirtan Day

Local kirtan group Baraka will be facilitating the Bloomington, Indiana contribution to the Global Kirtan as well as words about Yamuna and the sacred rivers from IU Professor David Haberman who wrote a book about the Sacred Rivers of India.
