Ras D Hanubaba, percussionist and original member of Baraka, received his name through his travels around the world. Studying in Jamaica, playing music and meditating in India, and traveling around Israel, Ras D is a modern Yogi, Rasta, and Natural Mystic. Blending his world views and studies, he values life and views it as Divine. He channels this divinity into the rhythms of the universe through tabla, mridanga, djembe, kartals, and other percussive instruments.
As a graduate of Indiana University with an individualized major focusing on “Sustainability, Awareness, and Community Development,” and a double major in Religion, Ras D is a student of life. While in school, Ras D was an active environmentalist, cofounding and establishing SPROUTS (Students PRoducing Organics Under The Sun), a student group and student-run organic garden on the Indiana University campus. It serves as a site for environmental education, food literacy, food for the needy, and a place to ground, planting seeds deep into the earth, metaphorically and literally. He also authored and published a how-to guide to organic gardening for the common gardener, to graduate. His book is available through Author House.
He is a student of energy as well. Self-educated on topics including energy psychology and Emotional Freedom Techniques, and many other self-help tools and methods. He is an organic gardening educator, and studies alternative medicine, nutrition, and herbology. He is certified in Permaculture Design, a certified Master in Usui Reiki and Kundalini Reiki Level 2, an EFT practitioner, What’s Your Tree Group Leader, and compassionate human being.
He has a recently established practice, Ground Up Botanicals and Healing Services, where he unifies his beliefs and education in facilitating individuals and groups through emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual challenges in daily life. He has a passion to help, heal, and inspire others to find their true passions and purpose in the world.
Along with Sakshi and Zen G, Ras D was also blessed to perform at the Art of Living Silver Jubilee as a member of Baraka, and join the adventures and spiritual experiences in India.
Ras D in his simplest form is just like you and me; human, energy, life. Here to serve the planet in its healing process.
